Clover Pit Demo Review 2025
I just recently played the demo for Clover Pit. I talked earlier in my article about Wanderstop see the article here:
I talked about how much fun I have looking through demos for games to find hidden gems.
Today I believe that I’ve found one.
What is Clover Pit?
Clover Pit is a Gambling Roguelike where the fun of the game comes from tilting the odds in your favor to reach ever expanding goals.
You, the player, are locked in a room above a trap door above an endless pit. Your only source of making money is through the slot machine in front of you.
The overseer places on you a debt. Should you fail to meet the debt you will be dropped into the abyss, and some other unfortunate soul will take your place.
You get three ‘rounds’ per debt. Upon completing one debt you are given three more ‘rounds’ and an ever increasing debt.
To balance out the increasing difficulty each completed debt allows you to tilt the odds in your favor through phone upgrades
You are also given access to items that can be purchased through a meta-currency called ‘tickets.’
You earn ‘tickets’ in a variety of ways ranging from finishing debts, finishing debts early, and taking less spins in ‘rounds’.
That’s right. Each ‘round’ that I mentioned earlier comes with a fixed set of spins. You can pay for seven spins, or you can take the discounted three spins and gain an extra ticket.
Each ‘round’ you gain interest based on how much money you’ve saved toward your debt. The interest helps just in case your luck turns on you and you end up broke.
The magic of Clover Pit comes from containing the usual trappings of traditional slot machines, but with the tantalizing power to tilt the odds in your favor. I’m sure everyone whose sat down at a slot machine has come to the infuriating conclusion that if only there was some way to change how the machine worked it would be much more gratifying.
Here’s your chance.
Clover Pit’s Influences
Clover Pit takes some of the best aspects from many of it’s predecessors.
It has the satisfying combo mashing from Balatro. Watching your expertly crafted plan explode into numbers, colors and sounds is exhilarating.
Obviously it uses the already successful medium of real life slot machines to inform the player of how the mechanics work. Additionally it takes the addictiveness of real slot machines along with it.
It borrows it’s art style from existing digital grunge settings like those of Inscryption, Buckshot Roulette, and countless other PSX horror games that are, “All the rage,” right now.
Conclusion
I think Clover Pit has a bright future ahead of it. I absolutely recommend giving the free demo a shot over on steam. Make sure to Wishlist the game as well; it helps out the developers a lot.
Let me know about any demos I should try in the comments below. Thanks so much for reading.
